The climate in Uzbekistan is continental, with mild winters and long, hot summers. The northern part of country is temperate, but the far southern part falls into the sub-torrid zone, where drought, an abundance of heat and light, and high sun during parts of the year are inherent features.
The average temperature in January falls below -8°C (18°F) in the north and 0°C (32°F) in the south, while the average temperature in July exceeds 35°С (95°F), but on certain days may reach 45°С (113°F) and higher. Humidity is low. Spring (April to June) and fall (September through October) are in general the most pleasant times to travel.
The average annual rainfall on the plains is 120-200 mm, in mountainous areas – 1000 mm. The amount of precipitation is low; thus, agriculture to a great degree relies on irrigation.
Best Time to Visit Uzbekistan. Because of the temperature extremes in the summer and winter, spring (April to June) and fall (September to October) are the best time to visit Uzbekistan. Fall is particularly pleasant in many areas because this season is harvest time. Fresh fruit is widely available in the markets. Spring and fall are, of course, the high season.
